I have lived in Pokesdown for 23 years.
I am Treasurer of Pokesdown Residents Association, and am project manager for the new "Village Green" being made with the help of £22,000 from the Lottery.
Before retirement, I did interesting Customs work at Heathrow, I demanded excise duties from gin warehouses in London, gave benefits to pensioners and caught fraudsters from Department of Social Security. Then in the Health Department I helped manage the Chernobyl disaster with other Government Departments. After that I finished up advising Government Ministers.
What was I? ….
Of course, I was a Civil Servant!
In Bournemouth, I have always been active in local issues. As well as the project for Pokesdown Green, I have been involved with Bournemouth East Police meetings, a Single Regeneration Board for Boscombe, and Sect 17 of the Crime and Disorder panel.
