Jon Nicholas was the Liberal Democrat candidate for Bournemouth East at the 2024 General Election

Local Lad
Jon moved to Bournemouth in 1985 and took his A-levels at Bournemouth and Poole College.
As a student he worked in Boscombe at The Hamby House and Sainsbury’s and also at Long’s Fish and Chips in Tuckton.
Having moved away for University and for his career, Jon returned to live in Bournemouth in 2006 and, apart from an 18 month assignment, has lived here ever since.
Skills and Experience
After A-levels , Jon studied Psychology at University.
Since then, he has had an acclaimed career working to make the world a better and safer place.
Jon has worked with peace organisations and development charities in the UK, Bosnia, Kosovo, the Middle East, Indonesia and Caucasus, designing workshops to help prevent conflict and deal with trauma. He has worked in communities facing violent extremism.
His job has taken him into UK prisons, using theatre and drama to challenge offending behaviour.
Jon’s interest in acting has also seen him attend a leading drama school (alumni include famous actors such as Hugh Bonneville, Ross Kemp and Terence Stamp).
There have been brief appearances in the Bill, Kavanagh QC and Dream Team.
Locally, he has worked with Vita Nova in Boscombe. This charity was set up in 1999 to use theatre and the expressive arts to support people recovering from addiction.
Jon Nicholas has a record of volunteering in Bournemouth East.

Jon has been a Parent Governor at St Katharine’s School and a member of the Southbourne Forum.
He is now a 'Friend of Seafield Gardens' and often joins the Friends on a Wednesday morning.
When Jon’s children were young, they looked upon this local park as if it were their own garden.
